Obituary of Adrienne Josephine McLoughlin Carroll

With a heavy heart, and many tears, the family and friends of Adrienne Josephine McLoughlin Carroll announce her sudden passing on March 11, 2024, at home in Largo, Florida.

Born in Carrigullen, Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, Adrienne came into the world full of life. With her expressive personality, masses of curls, and bright green eyes, she won a Beautiful Baby Contest at the age of three.

Adrienne came to Canada in 1956 alongside her mother, (the late) Mary Rose (May) Beveridge McLoughlin, and her six siblings, joining their father, (the late) James Rodgers McLoughlin. They lived on air force bases in Manitoba and Alberta, then moved on to Ontario, finally settling on Dennison Crescent in Ottawa for Adrienne’s teen years.

Beloved wife of Frank, proud stepmother to Stephanie (Scott), Paul (Jacqui), Frank (Lauren) and aunt to Meagan. She loved being ‘LaLa’ to her grandchildren, Sydney, Shaylin, Joseph, Roslyn, Brynn and Emma.

Deeply missed by her siblings Elizabeth (Kent), Rosemary, Barry (Laura), and Nora (Dave). Predeceased by her little brother Stephen (Ingrid). Fondly remembered always by her nieces and nephews, Siobhan, Sinead, Caroline, Brendan, Liam, Hannah, and Connor. Loving great-aunt to Daire, Ella, Lennox, Katie, Toryn, Darian, Rory and Kieran.

With her charm and outgoing nature, Adrienne was always the life of the party and made friends wherever she went. One who particularly stands out is her longtime friend Ornella.

After retiring from her receptionist position of many years at J.J. Barnicke in Toronto, she and Frank moved to the US and married in a beautiful beachside ceremony in Folly Beach, SC. Adrienne appreciated warmer climates after living in colder Canada for so many years. They spent time in Virginia Beach VA, Charleston SC, and finally settled down in Largo, FL, where they spent many happy years together. Her Irish eyes were always smiling with her beloved Frank (FX) by her side.

All who knew her will remember the lilt of Irish laughter and sense of fun she brought to any occasion.

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sunshine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God bless and keep our dear Adrienne.
