Obituary of Judith Hotz Massa

Judith Carol Hotz Massa, 82, of Indian Rocks Beach passed away on March 5, 2024 at Regal Palms Assisted Living community.

“Judy” as she was commonly known, was born in 1941 in the Canal Zone in the country of Panama. She graduated from Balboa High School in Panama, and then DePauw University in Indiana. After college, Judy achieved an illustrious career with Voice of America (VOA) in Washington DC. She became Music Director for VOA and hosted a weekly radio program called “Country Music USA”, where she introduced global listeners to music and artists of the country genre. She beamed “country sunshine” into millions of people around the world and gained a following as an ambassador of American music.

Judy is survived by her sons Roland and Justin, brother James “Tim” Hotz, nephew Ted, niece Kristin, and grandson Nicholas. Her generous and beautiful spirit will be carried forward by those who love her.

Judy was an animal lover who cared deeply for the benefit of dogs, cats and horses. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to ASPCA in her honor.
